New server migration
We’re very happy with how RoboDomain is going so far, our user base is growing day after day. This is a very exiting news and the time has arrived to move our main server to a new infrastructure.
Our old server is running on Ubuntu 8.04 and this release no longer offers the same number of features and packages as the most up-to-date versions. The result is that we need to upgrade to the latest LTS release if we want to continue to take advantage of several technologies such as Memcached, Redis, Ruby 1.9.2 and other more recent softwares.

We have already deployed a brand new server with the most recent Ubuntu version, Nginx 0.8 and Passenger 3. Our tests performed very well and we’re now ready to migrate RoboDomain to this new server. We’re also detaching some services to the main RoboDomain codebase to run them in a separate instances.
At the end of the transition, we expect RoboDomain to run faster and to be even more affordable than in the past.
We planned a zero downtime strategy and we don’t expect any service interruption.
The migration will take 1 week to complete since we need to move the main application, the database server and all the support services.
Please note that as a result of the DNS changes, RoboDomain will be moved to a new IP: 216.119.147.54. The old IP, 68.169.45.198, will be deactivated. Please update your host configuration if you are running behind a firewall or a filter.
Thanks for your patience. If you should notice some unexpected behavior, please let us know.
